A new magazine exploring the trials & tribulations of life under late-stage capitalism.
The first issue of CRUMBS is on the absurdity of modern work and the struggle to make ends meet. We’re interested in everything from nightmare bosses and bizarre workplaces to the job-hunting hellscape and post-burnout convalescence. Think wide and fun and free - anything that surprises us or piques our curiosity will be a goer.
Style-wise, we’re looking for writing that’s playful, incisive, lively and engaging. Throw in some witty observations, a smattering of humour, and a few scathing critiques and we’ll be chomping at the bit.
The people behind CRUMBS.
Ex-academic turned marketing head. By day he works in media and visual production, by night he spends far too long flicking through the back catalogue of e-flux and writing articles on the tech addled landscape of contemporary life. Came up with the idea for CRUMBS after an eight hour b2b meeting marathon and one too many cups of tea. Now secretly hoping to launch it into the stratosphere of magazine folklore.
Miriam's essays and short fiction have been published in Extra Teeth Mag and online by Scratch Books. She was shortlisted for the Brick Lane Bookshop Short Story Prize in 2025, and longlisted for the Desperate Fiction Prize in 2026. You'll find her reading - and trying to write - work that is curious, bold, and unsettling, and which experiments with syntax and form. Having done plenty of workshopping and learning with the Faber Academy, Arvon, The Stinging Fly, Hinterland, and the Irish Writers Centre, Miriam teaches creative writing to children and writing skills to adults.
Researcher, educator, writer and architect specialising in the field of politics and design. Pierre lectures at the Royal College of Art, he loves teaching and is finishing a PhD about how universities need to be better for everyone. Working across specialisms in national policy, community organising, Futures literacy, and charity governance he is an academic absurdity. Pierre is co-founder of School SOS, a registered charity for the development of critical spatial practices.
